Management of Health Information

Compliance with the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Introduction & Core Principles

Suprema Medical Centre recognizes the highly sensitive nature of personal medical records. We are committed to protecting your privacy in full compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).

What Personal Information We Collect

To provide you with optimal healthcare, we collect personal information including your full name, date of birth, contact details, Medicare number, emergency contact, past medical history, current medications, allergies, and specialist communications.

How Your Information is Used & Disclosed

Your health information is used solely for clinical purposes: direct patient care, referral to medical specialists, pathology and imaging investigations, Medicare claiming, and clinical recalls (e.g. cervical screening or immunisation reminders). Information is only disclosed to external parties with your informed consent or where required or authorized by Australian law.

Security of Medical Records

All patient records are stored digitally in our password-protected, encrypted medical database. Our network is secured with advanced firewalls, continuous audit trails, and multi-factor authentication. Physical paper documentation is scanned and shredded using accredited secure destruction protocols.

Accessing or Correcting Your Information

Under the APPs, you have the right to request access to, and correction of, your health record held by our practice. Please submit requests in writing to our Practice Privacy Officer at enquiry@supremamedical.com.au.
